The 23rd ETH-Conference on Combustion Generated Nanoparticles is held in Zurich on June 17th–20th, 2019.

The annual conference at ETH Zurich brings together people from all over the world to discuss various aspects of nanoparticles generated by combustion processes—scientists, industry representatives and people dealing with legislation related to the nanoparticles. Session topics include for example emission control of diesel and gasoline vehicles, biomass combustion, health effects, environmental impact, and much more.

At the conference, Joonas Vanhanen, Airmodus CTO, will present a poster about aerosol particle number concentration measurements of non-volatile sub-3 nm particles from a GDI (gasoline direct injection) engine. One of the conclusions: most of the generated sub-3 nm particles don’t evaporate in 400oC temperature.

Another poster dealing with the smallest aerosol particles will be presented by Henna Lintusaari from Tampere University. She has measured non-volatile sub-23 nm particle number concentrations in a street canyon in Helsinki, all the way down to 1.4 nm in particle size. Measurements showed that the highest concentrations occurred during morning rush hours.

There you can also find the abstracts of both above-mentioned posters, and of all the conference presentations.
