PSM got wings

During the PEGASOS campaign, atmospheric researchers are studying new particle formation in different layers of the atmosphere. The ground station SMEAR II in Hyytiälä, southern Finland, is packed with state-of the-art instruments, sampling aerosols and their precursors. The first new generation Particle Size Magnifier, A10 PSM, is measuring the size distribution of recently formed clusters and particles.
During the recently finished intensive campaign, measurements above the ground level were done with a research zeppelin and a Cessna airplane. Both airships had an Airmodus PSM aboard. This is the first time when airborne measurements start at the size of 1 nm, so expectations are high.
